Investment Supports Western Slope Wildfire Recovery
In response to the Elk, Lee, and Crosho wildfires in Northwest Colorado, CHFA invested $20,000 in Yampa Valley Community Foundation’s (YVCG) Yampa Valley Disaster Recovery Fund. The Fund helps meet the immediate and long-term relief and recovery needs of the people and places affected by disasters in the Yampa Valley region. To mobilize quickly and equitably, funds are distributed to nonprofit organizations and local governments working to advance recovery efforts throughout the affected region.
YVCG’s efforts aim to minimize the impact on households and businesses in the region, including supporting local nonprofits that incurred unexpected expenses as they supported residents during evacuations. The funding provided will also aid recovery and mitigation efforts including supporting repairs to homes damaged by fire, providing sandbags to protect communities from flash flooding and mudslides, and helping to fund road repairs due to damage from mudslides.
